Diagram: a sketch, drawing or outline designed to demonstrate, explain or clarify the relationships among parts of a whole, or to illustrate how something works.
The Elastic Quality of Personal History.
Recently I've focused on pieces that address the meditative process more directly. Almost violently approaching notions of identity as self-invention. Chosen identities emanate from our costume or situation, but undress and you may go about invisible.
A purely literalistic, autobiographical reading of the work is simple, but impractical. The characters in my work are asked to pass masses of often contradictory information. The characters span generations of shifting context, and fact, mutated over time with every reproduction.
I'm interested here in fictive documentary: the paradox of hard truth relayed by an unreliable narrator prone to a wandering eye.
